Hello,
I have a Compaq V3000 laptop having installed dual boot Window XP Home and Ubuntu. I recently upgraded the XP Home to XP Pro with dual boot remaining. But just today the Windows is not starting after the Welcome screen. I tried to reinstall Windows Xp Pro, but this time I got the message "No Hard Disk", etc. I tried disabling SATA in BIOS, but the same result continues. How can I install device driver for Hard disk and nLite as I could not go to Windows at all. I do not have any floppy drive and I can run the Ubuntu as before. Please help me.

Sounds like the laptop was working fine with the O/S upgrade until today? And now a "No Hard Disk" greeting? Sounds like the data cable between the HD and the MD has decided to shift enough due to heat expansion / contraction over time to cause the problem. Try removing and reattaching both ends af the HD data cable as well as the power connector. Then try starting your laptop again.
