Core 2 duo vs amd phenom

suggest me a low range gaming pc...I ve chosen the geforce9500gt as my graphics card ....i need to know the best possible processor for gaming as well as multitasking ...also a compatible motherboard along with it.. below RS 8000 ie indian rupees...................

Any link to sites from where you want to buy? I at list do not know how much is 8000 rupees.

AMD dual core AM3 socket not lower than 2500Mhz,
AM3 socket motherboard.
2 Gb of RAM DDR 3
320-500Gb hard drive
optical drive DVD-RW
PSU 400w budget quality psu
And something better then a 9500gt, that's not a gaming card.

But i don't know how much that costs in rupees.
Is that budget for all of your components or you already have the video card?

9500 GT is not strong enough to be considered as a gaming card. Regardless, is that 8000 RS (160$ approx.) just for the motherboard? How much is your total budget then?

If you are playing Quake3/4, doom3, MOHAA, older FEAR games, the 9500GT will be fine....

Otherwise, I'd be looking for at least a GTX460(1gb) or 6850

I would go for a amd phenom II X4 build.It would last you a good 18months at least!

the 9500 gt was a budget card 3 years ago, now its not much better than the latest onboard video. Get a minimum ati 5750 or gts450.

Agreed, and 9500GT cannot be considered as even a bottom end gaming card for todays games, you need to set your sights a little higher.

Btw, I guess OP has made a typo. Its rs 8000 (160$ approx.) and not rs 80000 (1600$ approx.).

Get a minimum 9600 GT, would cost only 5 $ more. And you can get the Q6600 instead of a core 2 duo(you can find one on ebay) which would give you much better performance.

If you haven't bought a LGA 775 board yet then I would recommend going with Intel Sandy Bridge
