Removing Read Only atribute

How can I remove the "Read Only" attribute from my picture files? I want to be able to edit them but cannot. Please help!

-> Open up an explorer window and navigate to the folder that the files are in.
-> Select all of the files (click on the first, shift-click on the last)
-> Right-click on the selected files and choose "properties"
-> Make sure that the "General" tab is selected in the properties dialog box.
-> UNcheck the "Read-only" checkbox (near the bottom) and click "OK".
