Like the title says what do you guys think?

The rest of the specs:

Intel I7 930 @ 3.8. I could go more, but I'm just staying here right now.
Sapphire 5870
XMS3 6gb ram.
TX 650 corsair PSU
p6x58d-e motherboard.
h70 water cooling on CPU.
Silverstone Raven RV02 case.
1980 x 1200 res, 28 inch.

As you can see, the difference is pretty big.You should upgrade, if you play lot of graphics intensive games, and use DX 11 tessellation.

I disagree. The GTX580 is more powerful then the 5870, and at 1920x1200 with the most demanding games you'll need that power. Assuming you have the $$$ it will be well spent. This is assuming of course you play any of those demanding games. If you are happy with the performance you have, then don't bother.

Yes, that's why I said 'graphically intensive' games. If you play CoD or WoW, you wouldn't notice any difference.

I've had the 5870 since release. I play all games, new, old, everything. I like to keep high end, and be able to play without any problems. I'm not a fan of crossfire or SLI either. Was also wondering if the TX650 corsair PSU I have would be enough for a single gtx580?

I'm probably going to put the 5870 in another computer (Phenom ii x4 920, 4gb, Biostar board) , which had a 4870 but it fired or something, it doesn't work anymore. I'll probably sell that computer to pay off this graphics card.

Here's some comparisons among the current cards....sum of COD-MW, Bad Company 2. Dirt 2, Far Cry 2, Metro 2033, Dawn of Discovery, Crysis Warhead from Guru3D

Total FPS single card / SLI Xfire

570 - 524 / 873
580- 616 / 953
6950 - 479 / 751
6970 - 526 / 825

$ per frame single card / SLI - Xfire

570 - $0.67 / $0.80
580 - $0.83 / $1.07
6950 - $0.63 / $0.80
6970 - $0.72 / $0.92
