HD 5770s slowing down when not in use?

Hi everybody,

I recently installed a second AMD HD 5770 in my computer. I unistalled the old drivers and reinstalled new ones, enabled Crossfire and all of the other fun stuff. I don't have any glitches or problems, just a curious observation:

Without any games playing if I check my cards' clock speed or memory speed, they show as 1/4 of my current settings. When I load up SC2 and start playing, the clock speeds jump up to the proper settings.

Make sense to me, but my single card didn't do this... is it a by-product of the Crossfire setup or the new drivers?

That's normal. When there is not much load, the cards slow down to reduce power consumption and temperatures.

Yep it's normal. Unless you want each of your HD 5770 to consume 80w - 85w each when you are just surfing the web.

wow. just for curiosity what driver version was at use before? Even a single 5770 ever since catalyst 10.xx should throtlle down

Curious.....What driver did u install? I couldn't get my Xfire to work with the 10.12 drivers and have to roll back to 10.5 to get it going properly
