My temp stuck at 51c

Just a little help guys.

i just recently upgraded my e2140 proc to e8400 (No overclocking)

then i check the temps, core2 reads 51c(stuck, not moving)
i use real temp and core temp, both of them reads 51c

what seems to be the problem?

specs:

e8400
asrock conroe 1333 667 r2.0 (bios 1.90)
4gb kingston 667 ddr2 (2x2gb)
MSI Ngts250 twin frozr 1gb 256bit oc ver.
tacens supero 600w

2 sata hdd (80gb and 320gb)
1 sata optical drive

Did you correctly apply thermal paste? Is SpeedStep enabled to allow the CPU to lower its clocks when idle?

yup apply thermal paste correctly, i havent tried that speedstep thingy
i even put back my old e2140, then the temp are back to normal (moving)

unlike the e8400, the core 2 stuck at 51c both load and idle.

Speedstep is already in automatic mode.

Try CPUID HWMonitor and see what it reports.

highest reading 51c same as core temp
lowest and current readings stuck at 36c

OK, so 51 is the max and not the current. Can you clear all readings to establish a baseline, and then fire off a CPU intensive application to see if the temperature changes in real time?

i tried to load the cpu

loadtester+3 game client+1 dmc4, and it makes 100% load

core2 still stuck at 51c

51C is perfectly normal when the CPU is under load. Does it come back down when the CPU is idling?

its not going up or down, just 51c

You could have gotten a CPU with a stuck sensor. Google it and see what it says. I have heard of this once or twice.

I have to agree with the guy above. Some CPUs cannot have the temperatures correctly recorded, same can go with motherboards.

That 51C could just be the max. Or just some random number the CPU gives to show on programs.

I would try to reset your BIOS settings and see if that works.

got the answer >_> few e8400 has bad temp sensor.
