Internet Connection Sharing HELP?

I have two computers. Both are running WinMe. They are networked with crossover rj45 cable. The host machine has two nic's and the other of course has one. I am able to access both computers via the network. I am for some ungodly reason not able to share my internet connection. The internet is accessible on the host(of course). I have the tcp/ip, netbui and internet connection protocols installed and showing up in control panel/network for both systems. I tried disabling my firewall, not that I wanted to, but I thought that might be it. Does anyone have any ideas????? If I left out any important info that will help ya out let me know. Thanks. I appreciate the reply. Sorry, ics is installed but about it being properly configured I am not sure. I would say that's what it is. In 'network' of control panel, the properties of internet connection sharing adapter, it's bound to everything, netbui, tcp/ip, and to itself.

That's what I thought. The wizard just doesn't seem to do something that it needs. I'm beginning to think it's my isp. I was reading something about problems with not being able to share internet connection was due to the isp's. I'll have to call them I guess, and of course I will try 'sygate'. Thanks Arrow

Go into control panel, click on network. Go down the list to all netbui options in there and check to see if DCHP is enabled. On all Network cards. Even your other computer. You need both Netbui and DCHP enabled. That was the problem I was having. After those were installed on my machine both were talking great. So I assume your internet NIC does not have both enabled. To be safe you can go with SYGate. Also check into shutting off ports that you don't need or disabling. So your not at a constant attack probability via internet. Just some thoughts.

Okay in the control panel under networks. Go through the list in there. There should be a IPX/SPX/Netbios option if not put it in there. Click on properties on that selection and look for DCHP and checkmark it. Also you should have your slave computer (the one that doesn't connect to the internet just looks into the other computer for internet) set up your TCP/IP for autodetect IP. Disable Wins Resolution. This is all on your Slave computer mind you. Like you said in your prior message that your host Computer can access the Net fine. Also make sure that your Netbios is added also. I'm not sure but in ME there might be in an option on your host computer through dialup to enable internet sharing (you can find this out in your help files on ME). I have a Win98 Slave to a Win2000 Pro and in 2000 it gives you in the properties of the dial up to enable ICS on the host computer. When you click okay it sets it up for you and gives you the IP address. It also says to set your slave computer to autodetect IP. Now if your browser is the only thing not accessing the internet you should get into your browser through Tools / Internet Options / Connection (tab) and click on internet setup and tell it to access your LAN instead of the other options and go through its check list. Sorry if I sound like I'm rambling but a little tired here. Hope that helps you some. I figured out what I was doing wrong with my Win 2000 when I found that entry in the dial up properties.
