Building a system for a mate for under $500.

I went with the older AM3 platform over the new sandy bridge because value is desired over performance and SB would have been overkill for his use, and i choose the GPU because he's only gaming at 1680x1050 and i hoping it will be enough to max most games out. But i'm not %100 on that. Anyone able to confirm?

a 5570 won't max out 1280x1024...GPU is much more important in a gaming machine.

^ a better idea, the 5770 does fairly well with 1680x1050. You can even drop the cpu down to a x3 and try to pump a gtx460 768 with the savings.
