Phenom II x4 in a Compaq Presario CQ5210F?

Solution
Based on the motherboard specs, the 925 will work. The 945 might but the 925 is a safer bet.

AM3 processors will generally work in AM2+ motherboards as long as the board can support it electronically.

Can you figure out exactly what motherboard it has? If not: exactly what processor does it have right now? You can get this information from CPUZ.

Physically, you can put a phenom II x4 in it. The question is: whether the board will support it electrically. You need to make sure the motherboard can handle/supply the 95W that processor needs.

Based on those threads, it seems like you will be fine.

"Is the 945 the same in bios as a 925?"

No, but that's not the problem. It is a hardware issue and not necessarily a BIOS issue. There are 3 different versions of Phenom II 945. One is 125W and will definitely not work. The other two *might*.

Search amazon.com for a 925. There are some for sale.

This is the motherboard http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c01701270&lc=en&dlc=&cc=us&lang=&product=4006186
The current Processor is a Athlon II x2 215 AM3
Despite the specs saying AM2+ it is running a AM3 in it
