Power issue for a new budget build

Considering a new budget build i'm planning.

The specs will be something like the following:

Mobo: ASRock M3A770DE
CPU: AMD Phenom II X2 555
RAM: 4GB Corsair XMS3 1333MHz DDR3
HD: Samsung SpinPoint F3 1TB
Case: Antec NSK4482B Mini Tower Case
with PSU: EarthWatts 380W (as in the Dec 2010 $500 build)

Now the problem i may have is with the graphics card i have inherited; a BFG GTX 260 OCX MAXCORE 896MB

The concern being that i may not have the power for such a card, but i'm unsure about it. What do you think?

I would not try and run that GTX260 on a 380w PSU. That was a power hungry card.

This was my assumption. Can you offer any alternative PSUs and Cases with this in mind?

As far as cases go check out the Antec 100,200 or 300. The 300 Illusion is my "go to" case for quiet well cooled builds on a budget. It includes all the fans you need.

Quality power supplies come from Corsair, Antec, Seasonic, PC Power and Cooling, XFX, Silverstone and Enermax. I recommend a 500w unit from any of those manufacturers.

My favorite cases are from Antec, Cooler Master, or Corsair. Looking over those with Included power supplies I don't see anything I would recommend. The Antec Sonnata has a 500watt supply, which would work but cooling on that case is fairly limited....

Cases for $20, $30, $40, $50 are really cheap & flimsy.... I just don't use 'em

$60 -- $80 is nice

$80 -- $100 are really nice entry level cases

NOTE: I've used the Antec 900 before, nice case. There are 2 or 3 versions of it now, pick the one that suits you best if you like that style.




Now you need a power supply, my favorites are Antec or Corsair. Just pick any model 500watts or over from these manufacturers and you be fine with that video card....
