LGA 2011 motherboard with 4 x 6gb SATA RAID 0

Anyone know of a LGA 2011 motherboard that supports 4 x 6gb SATA 3 RAID 0?

  2. You have to remember that all the board with 4 ports have two in the back, leaving only two on the board for raid. You need to be looking for boards with 6 6GBPS ports to find the ones with 4 available for raid.
  3. Thanks for the replies. I'm looking to setup a 4 drive RAID 0 array using onboard 6GB SATA 3 ports so they all need to be internal. Looks like the Gigabyte one will work.

    I'm wondering if I should build the array on the SATA 2 3GB/s ports instead. I plan on using latest generation SSDs but anyone know if there will be much difference?
  4. There won't be much of a difference, but if you've got the ports and drives, then why not take advantage of them? The only difference in terms of work is which ports you plug into.

    Otherwise, there's no other onboard RAID 0 x4 SSD/HDD options for SATA3 boot drives on any LGA 2011 MOBO's that I can think of anyway, just Intel SATA2.

    Never cross chipsets for SATA e.g. Intel + Marvell = BAD!!! Even though you 'could' use Windows to create a RAID 0 with (Intel + Marvell = BAD) don't do it and it won't be bootable.

    There won't be that much of a difference (real world) using the Intel SATA2 ports for a RAID 0 w/4 SSD's. Most of the 'real world' and relevant IOPS is from 4KB R/W. However, with a risky RAID 0 with several drives 'if 1 fails they all do' then IMO a RAID Card is a smart move and will be significantly faster.

    Ideally, use a Dedicated RAID Card e.g. LSI x4 or x8 PCIe card + Kit + IMO batter back-up with Cached cards:
