I've recently bought a Phenom II X4 960T CPU and when I put in in my computer nothing happened. I believe I need to update my BIOS and I found a post on the ASUS forum explaining the process

http://vip.asus.com/forum/view.aspx?id=20070215223109668&board_id=1&model=P5B+Deluxe%2fWiFi-AP&page=1&SLanguage=en-us

In it he mentions extracting the BIOS file to a FAT/FAT32 formatted USB Flash Disk with only one partition or use a CD-ROM.

How do I format a USB pen to FAT/FAT32?

Any advice would be a great help thanks

Why do u need that for? Something doesn't work right? Is it a new install?

There is a risk, but mostly it is OK.

Hi nikorr,

Thanks for your reply. I got the new CPU because I want to start upgrading in stages. I thought the CPU would be somewhere to start since I have little knowledge of what to get and why one is better than the other.

I think I've picked a CPU which isn't compatible with my motherboard though. I thought mine was an M2N68 AM Plus which lists the 960T as being supported as long as the BIOS is later than 1701. But when I search for my motherboard using the serial number on the box, it comes up as just the M2N68. I didn't think there was a difference but it doesn't have the 960T listed as supported.

I don't know what to do now. Is it worth flashing or not? Will the flash for the 960T work with my Motherboard?

Any advice?
