I have seen alot of review and i see alot of good and alot of bad about this card. I do not plan to flash 6970 bios to it.

for the price of 300$ am i better of with this card or getting 2 gtx 460's in sli

i play at low res 1300x780 atm but will be getting a 24 inch and will play at 1920x1080p soon.

I prefer getting a single powerful card rather than XFire or SLI since not all games will take advantage of those techs.

The GTX 460 is roughly equal to a HD 6850 so two GTX 460s should be able to easily outperform a single HD 6850; as long as the game uses SLI. Most of the popular title should be able to use XFire or SLI.

I would guess 2GB of VRAM on a 1920 x 1080 monitor is a waste. One a three monitor gaming setup I would say it's required.

According to the hierarchy post will the 4870 x2 be faster then a 6950 or its it a waste of money to grab off ebay?

Keep in mind, 2g gtx 460's acts like 1gb of ram (unless there are single 460's with 2gb and you are pairing those).

Two 460's would out perform a single 6950 most the time, but there will also be times when SLI doesn't help or causes glitches, in which case a single 460 would not be as good. The single 6950 would be cheaper than the two.

I find it a good card. I've used 470's and a 6950 and flashed it to a 6970 later. I prefer a single 6950->6970 over two 470's at the resolution of 1920x1200. At times my FPS can be lower, and times it's higher, but I get good FPS the vast majority of the time. (Metro 2033 has me playing at lower settings than I'd like, but it doesn't work well with SLI/CF either).

The main thing for me, is I like SSAA and MLAA. I can't stand Dragon Age Origins with out SSAA, which the 470's don't have. Although there is a 3rd party program that can do a lesser version with a heavier performance hit.

1 HD 6950 is plenty for your resolution. You do not need to XFire or SLI for games, unless your running Eyefinity with max settings playing Crysis, its over kill. For $300 6950 is the best card.

Its an excellent card. Anyone who bashes this card knows nothing. Its the best card in its class. Its also the only card in its class. Currently you can have it for 280, if that fits your price range go for it.

The 6950 is a very good card! I upgraded from a 5870 and even though the different is slight between the 2, my intention is to Crossfire it at the end of the month. For a card that cost around £220 it is an awesome purchase especially for crossfire!

I disagree with that statement. I used to game at 1680x1050 and there were a few occasions where 1gig wasn't enough. Now I game at 1920x1200 and would never consider buying a 1gig card. This doesn't come from any fancy charts, this comes from experience. I also have a 5850 on one machine. The 1gig on that once in a while isn't enough.
