Cpu temps

I am running a AMD 955 BE on a Asus M4A89GTD PRO/USB3 mobo in a CM 922 case.
Running EPU program in hi performance mode which have all fans on,I get CPU temps from 27C to 39C.
Running EPU in max power saving mode, which turns off both the front intake and rear exhaust fans,I get CPU temps of 27 C to 34C
Why is it that I get lower temps with less fans?

How scientific was your testing?
To get an accurate comparison, use the same load (prime95 is good), the same situation (for ambients etc) and the same time period.
Do that and see what you get.

Thanks for the reply kajabla,
tried your suggestion and ran prime95.
I observed when using the max power saving mode the speed of the cpu is only at 802 Mhz and CPU voltage is 0.94
When using hi performance or auto mode the the cpu speed is 3208 Mhz and voltage is 1.28.
Never noticed that max power mode cut cpu speed to 25%
