hello forum

i have a asus A8N-E (yes i know its super old)
i have a dual core 4200+ and a X600 series Ati video card with 2 gigs of ram

now what i wanna do is play SWTOR but found out the hard way that i am un able to play it after
game-debate said i was able to play if i had it on low settings

now i wanna upgrade to a HD6770

my question is will my motherboard be compatible if not
can you guys help me pick a cheap motherboard that will
but that will also be able to port my dual core chip

thank you guys for taking the time

It might, but you will need a video driver update for Win 7.
I've also read that SWTOR is more CPU demanding than the suggested minimum.
So you can get a 6770 and try it and if it doesn't dramatically improve performance, next step is computer upgrade.

I am sorry, but no upgrade of your existing components is going to help much. It is just too old for modern games. You can certainly try the 6770 card first. It will work on your motherboard.

Realistically, you need a new processor, motherboard, and ram to go with it. It can be done for another $150 or so. It will only bring you up to medium graphics level, but should be very playable.

motherboard - $53.99 - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813128527
Processor - $69.99 - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819116399
Ram - $19.99 - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820148474

Total $143.97 plus shipping

thank you guys

well i was able to run SWTOR with my system but the graphics card is the thing i am lacking

i was rated fine for the CPU i got and the Memory for high settings just that my video card was disproved by game-debate saying that it would run just in its lowest settings

in witch they were right it does run but when i start to pick my character and how he will look i cant see anything thus leaving me angry that i started my 30 day trial and i am unable to play cause of my graphics card

but i thank you guys for viewing and replying

i favor more AMD then intel and i would like to get something in the budget that will also be able to upgrade to a 8core AMD processor

You might want to read this article before making decisions beyond the graphics card. http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/gaming-cpu-review-overclock,3106-5.html
