Hi guys, my first build and based around the i5 2500k, just wondering what would be the best motherboard on a budget <£100 ?
I'm interested in over-clocking and using it for gaming, watching films and general light use.
Any information on other components to use with the i5 would be more than appreciated guys,
Thanks for your time.
Regards,
Jonny

Im on the same boat as you.
Planning to build a new rig for the first time and I do not know what motherboard to choose for the i5 2500k.
I was looking at the ASUS P8P67 LE (B3) or ASUS P8Z68-V LE.

Hi,
Budget's about $150 which is about 100 pounds.

I would prefer an asus motherboard but now im just confused. Asrock has some pretty decent reviews.
I guess it sums down to which board is better for overclocking. The rest would be pretty much the same, maybe with different pci slots etc.

I've been reading this thread as well, http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/298717-30-asrock-pro3-asus-p8z68

Says that the Asus P8Z68-V has better overclocking.

But then again, im not sure what the difference is between the Asus P8Z68/-V/-V-LX/-V-LE?? :O

ASRock Z68 Extreme3 is the one to go for in my opinion, good reviews, cheap and everything we need from it i guess, what graphics card are you opting for?

I dunno if this would work in america, but www.gumtree.com has loads of cheap components floating around.

Whats your budget on graphics card(s)?
I wouldn't recommend gumtree, too many scams take place. Your best bet would be ebay or retailers such as Aria, Scan, Misco etc;.

My budget would be about £80,
Ive been on gumtree buying and selling for couple of years, its been fine for me, loadsa quick sale bargains haha.
Theres plenty of budget graphics cards on there too.

I dunno what make/model to get though and i dont know much about them. Although from all the reading, my knowledge of how a computer works has increased dramatically over the last few days lol

Yup, im scraping asus out of the list. They're a little pricey.
Im deciding between these boards now,
ASRock Z68 Extreme3 Gen3 and Gigabyte GA-Z68X-UD3.

Will probably go with the asrock if i get the haf922 case as i dont need the 3.0 headers.

I was thinking of getting the powercolour hd6950 2gb.
Yourself?

LOL, the hierarchy of graphics.
I was intending to get one hd6950 first with the intentions of buying another in future.
Just cant make up my mind between the gigabyte hd6950 and powercolor.

The price of the powercolor is the about the same if not cheaper. The only difference is that, the gigabyte has 1gb and powercolor 2gb.

Im planning to use eye infinity with 3 screens in future. So Im leaning towards the 2gb powercolor.
