recent display problems on Toshiba notebook.......

My notebook began having strange symptoms recently. Upon startup, the
display (specifically, rather, what's on the screen) begins flickering
and jumping around. Sort of like a TV with the Vhold or the Hhold
slightly out of whack. It'll settle down within a few minutes, but
moving the computer or the screen will cause it to happen again.

Can anyone give me guidance about this problem?
