i bought new system with AMD phenomII X4 965 Black editon, gigabyte Motherboard 880g chipset ,16GB Corsair XMS 1600mhz
actually problem is when i was rendering in 3dsmax the temp goes to 61 degrees stable on AMD's stock cpu cooler which cm with thermal grease, So in order to reduce the heating i bought cooler master thermal paste htk-002
but now when im rendering the temp goes even more higher [65degrees] then it was with the AMD's stock thermal paste,so wat to do know shud i seek another thermal paste which can reduce the temp, also one thing due this heating today i got 2xtime blue screen 0x0000003b

wat shud i do now i've ordered new thermal paste by going through lot of review in forums sm artic silver5,ocz freeze, arctic mx-4,coolermaster icefusion400. help me which wud be the best once for my AMD phenomIIX4 965 be

I've got the same cpu and had around the same temps. I used artic silver 5 and and a Zalman 9900 heatsink. In summer I idle around 28-30 C and have not exceed 49 with
Prime 95 or any thing else I've thrown at it. You should get an after market cooler but maybe not the 9900 if it wont fit in your case.

We need more details on your pc case and fan set up a picture and make and model of your case would be good, so we can recommend a good cpu cooler to you.

3DS Max can surely load all your cores while rendering. Your temps actually look pretty ok under load conditions and with all stock and/or generic parts. So can you afford a new case for say 60$? If yes then get yourself an Antec 300. That will alone cause a good drop down in temps. If you have a better budget then get a good aftermarket CPU cooler as well.

Could you try to reapply your thermal paste.
I havent tried 3DS Max so i might be wrong. But it wont harm you to reapply the thermal paste.

post a pic of your rig, so that we can recommend an aftermarket cpu cooler, anyway the CoolerMaster Hyper 212+ would be perfect for your CPU, and it's normal to go that degrees on load with the stock cooler... but the determinant for the new cooler would be your case, so post up some pics and you get recommendations

Dropping volts = lower temps

Giga-Byte motherboards are bad to over-volt with settings on *Auto*

I've got a 965 on a Gigabyte board, defaulted the voltage to 1.54V. Needless to say I overclocked it to 4.0Ghz and dropped the voltage to 1.488.

I don't believe Core Temp works as well with AMD as would HWMonitor, the GB system utility, or even AMD OverDrive. You should use multiple programs and give it your best 'guess-timate' as to where the accuracy lies.

You also appear to have an issue with your RAMs. Have you stress tested your memory for errors? Is your memory qualified for that motherboard?

I've not come across issues such as this but I suppose a memory issue could effect the operating temps of the integrated memory controller.

Your stick in DIMM1 is reported as PC-8500 DDR3 1066MHz -- your other DIMMs are reported as PC-10700 DDR3 1333MHz.

Yes, infact im using hyper 212 plus, but it not fitting in my current case, mean i cannot put my side panel coz of cooler master 212 plus, and i got great reduction in temp too now my cpu temp on rendering mode 100% load it only 52 -53 ,which was 68-69 in AMD Stock cooler...abt thermal paste i got thermal with Cooler master hyper 212 package i used tht atm...So now i wana know will My Cooler master hyper 212 fit inside Antec300 so i can close the side panel ..

if you were only able to use a brand new tube of grease twice, i am guessing you are using way too much grease. i had a standard size of grease, it lasted me 6 builds, 2 out of those builds i reapplied 2x.
everywhere pretty much recommends to put approx a pea sized ball in middle and squish out. I just db it on as thin as possible over surface, and spread out. a few dabs to any bare areas i am not happy with.
