Need Advice For My $1000 Gaming Rig Plans

Hello,

I am preparing to create a new gaming machine that's as powerful as possible while still under $1000 dollars. I don't need a hard drive or cd-drive, but I'm purchasing the rest of the components, along with a case. Does this build seem viable, or is there anything I can do to improve it?

Try out the build in my siggy.

Trust me it'll be a LOT better. The Extreme is a terrible psu series, the silent pro is not but the extreme is. AMD is not a good CPU choice atm. Maybe when BD releases but ATM not really.

Thanks for the advice. How do you feel about the GTX 570 in comparison to the cards in your sig? From the benchmarks on Tom's, it looked like the 570 was a good choice.

The 570 is a good choice, but your paying 150$ more. The 6870 or 560 Ti would fit your budget more and has more than enough performance at 1920x1080. What resolution/game are you playing?

Going to be picking up a 23inch monitor shortly after building this machine. And I'm trying to make sure enough components are as 'future' friendly as possible, which is why I was eying the 570. I'd say my goal is to make a machine that can run current games at max settings with no problem and last a good couple years before I need to worry about upgrading again.

Then the 560 Ti is good enough. Your resolution most likely is 1920x1080. So the best choice would probably be the 560 Ti. HOWEVER!! Are you going overclock? If not you should go with the 6950 2GB.
