This website is a GODSEND. I am so thankful for this amazing community. I would be completely lost otherwise!

I recently bought a HP pavilion pc (my dad bought it and wasn't willing to spend more than 600 bucks...) I had no money at that time but recently got a job (i am a student)...anyway....

The Card I want is the HD 6970. These are the specified AMD requirements:

550 Watt or greater power supply with one 150W 8-pin PCI Express® power connector and one 75W 6-pin PCI Express® power connector recommended

And this is my pc:

http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c01925486&lc=en&dlc=en&cc=us&product=5060994&lang=en&key=null&site=null

My specifications for my PSU are as such: 5.5 L x 6.5 W x 3.5 H

And this is the PSU I found to match the above specifications:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817153140

Looking at it however, it does not list the 8 pin connector that the AMD requirements indicate. Is this standard? Are the 150 W 8-pin PCI power connector part of this PSU? Can anyone let me know if I can use this PSU with my mobo and card? Thank you so so much!!

Hi surag!
The TR2 Series is one of the psus that is heavily not recommended. Here is a review of the 750w rated TR2 series.
Thermaltake TR2 RX 750 W is, according to our methodology, a flawed product that must be avoided at all costs. It can’t deliver its labeled wattage at high temperatures, but this is not the worst of it: ripple and noise level are way above the maximum allowed when you pull 80% or more from the unit’s labeled capacity (i.e., 600 W and above), overloading your components (especially electrolytic capacitors from the motherboard and video cards), which can cause your PC to present an erratic behavior (crashes and random resets) and, under extreme conditions, damage components.
