I7 960 - HEAT ISSUES

Hello All,

So i recently put my rig together and i was testing out the temperature via Coretemp & Speedfan.
FYI, i have a i7 960 with stock fan and heat sink.
Also, this is not overclocked at all.

I seem to be idling at 34C ~ 37C.

I ran a stress test for 15 minutes via Prime95 and got temps as high as 71C ~ 76C.

Also, i do not know if this has any bearing on the cooling of the CPU but my case is a coolermaster sgc2000 equiped with 3 120MM fans. I am currently also sitting in a very cooled air conditioned room.


Do you think i should invest in an aftermarket cooling system ?

After market cooling is always nice, but your temps are normal. If you not going to overclock i would worry about better cooling. If you are, it's almost a must for the 9xx series chips as they do run hot.

im thinking about overclocking. i was looking into the antec 620 water cooling system. doesn't seem too expensive.
