Hello, I am unable to get Microsoft updates. I have been following the help page from ms and it says Port 443 may be blocked. When I carried out the test it came up as blocked but no clue as to how I could unblock it

More likely your router is blocking the communication. Port 443 is used for SSL encryption. If you have a firewall on your router try disabling it. Also, if there is a DMZ function you can set the IP address of your computer in DMZ and it will turn of the firewall for your PC only.

Hi, thanks for the suggestion.
I'm no expert, how do I check if I have a firewall on my router? Also, the DMZ function is not something I understand but I am prepared to have a go if I'm told what to do.
Thanks

I've found that by hardwiring my laptop to the router I can get the updates. I contacted Talktalk who supplied the router. They suggested some changes which haven't helped but at least I know what to do each time I need to download the Windows updates.
Thanks to everyone for the help and advice.
