This is my first build. Rather than exact prices, I'm interested in finding a combination of parts that works well together.
Approximate Purchase Date: The next month or so
Budget Range: ~$400-700
System Usage from Most to Least Important: Multi-tasking, web, games (older to semi-new..HL2, Painkiller, Bioshock, maybe Crysis)
Parts Not Required: Mouse, speakers, monitor, OS
Preferred Website(s) for Parts: Newegg, Microcenter
Country of Origin: USA?
Parts Preferences: by brand or type : none
SLI or Crossfire: No
Additional Comments: Debating H67 vs. P67. No great need for overclocking, but would like to play games here and there. This is my first build so exact prices not as important as affirmation of compatibility of parts/technical considerations.
I've been looking at the following parts:
Case: Antec Three Hundred - or Antec NSK 4482B
CPU: Sandy Bridge Core i5 (plus cooler) ~2400 , negotiable.
Motherboard : Suggestions? I've heard much criticism of H67 due to lack of overclock. Is the IGP on a non-K Sandy Bridge chip worse than on a K? Do I need an aftermarket cooler if I'm not overclocking, or does the stock one suffice?
GPU: None for the time, when ready, perhaps an AMD Radeon 5770
Power supply: Antec EarthWatts 430
RAM: ~4 or 6GB..(best brand?)
HDD: Samsung Spinpoint or WD Caviar Blue 1TB
Mostly need help with CPU/MB/PS/RAM.
Thank you in advance. Apologies for any oversights
