USB to serial

Hello,
I'm looking for a chipset to convert USB to serial but one that needs no software installation on Win XP and Win 7

You will need to load drivers. I've used a USB->Serial adaptor for connection to O'scope to download waveforms and for a RH520 Temp/RH instrument to down load temperature and Relative humidity for a clean room. In addition to the drivers you will need to download the software for the device you need to "talk" to.

I use "usb to Serial" cables too. Mainly for older Time Clocks. As long as you have the latest service packs, your os should auto load the drivers.
