[Need Advice] Best Motherboard for FX-8120

Hey all

I am building a PC and want some advice on the motherboard

I am looking for something that is best bang for the buck with the following requirements:

1) Usable with FX-8120
2) Good for overclocking the above
3) Will run 16 Gig of 1666 DDR3 RAM
4) Will have PCI to CF in the future (7950s)
5) Fits in the Coolmaster Storm Sniper Case http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811119194
6) Accommodates the 212 Hyper Evo CPU cooler http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835103099

  1. I didn't pay attention to price, since you didn't list a budget.

    Here's an all around good MB with good overclocking potential, and will fit the EVO, and the case.

    I dont really have a budget so to speak, but i want to get the best motherboard for the money.

    I was looking at that motherboard, how does it compare to the 990FXA?

    i really like teh colours of that motherboard though (lmao, not the best thing to base my decision on though :D)

    Do you live near a MicroCenter store? They are selling the FX8120 for $200 and a $120 credit on a motherboard. I like the Asus Sabertooth 990FX. You can get the FX8120 and Asus motherboard for $280 total.
  6. nah, i wish, i live in Canada and we dont have any microcenters there..... i look at their prices and it makes me sad

    The only thing the FXA has is an extra PCI-E slot, for a total of 4.

    so if i am only lookin to use the PCI to CF, i should only need the 3 right?
  9. You really only need two to CF, but the board comes with three.

    i have that motherboard and it runs fantastic! i have 2 gtx550 ti's in it running sli. i have the same processor but i have a liquid cooler on my cpu just for fun. i might help tho when i start to try overclocking.
