I bought a 890GX Board, 955 B.E, and 4 Gigs of ram for 220$ as he's upgrading to a 2600k system. He is keeping his current graphics card and crossfiring an additional one (5850), I was planning on either getting a 5870 or 6970, I'm just wondering if it's worth getting a 6970 with the current hardware levels I am going to have or am I going to see roughly the same performance out of a 5870. I plan to OC the 955 on air as well. I don't have a PSU that can support either card yet I'll be buying one when I purchase the card as well so it's really non issue.

Your 955 isn't going to hold back any graphics hardware, short of some of the more powerful multi-GPU setups. You should be good with almost any single card available, excluding beasts like the 6990 and such.

A 6970 will give you a lot more performance than a 5870. A 5870 is also marginally cheaper, so it's really up to how much you're willing to spend. :D

Yeah I wasn't totally sure if that 955 would or would not, he said he was close to maxing his system with BC2 so I wasn't sure if it was the processor or the 5850, more than likely i'll be going with the 6970.
