Hi, there are some things about GBA:

First the well-known stuff:

* All fighters, assault craft, special buildings, colonists, crew,
troops and highguards of the base that initated the merge simply
vanish.
* All other stuff of the base that initated the merge (MCs, supplies,
common buildings, ...) is added.
* If there are more buildings of a type than allowed, they are reduced
to the max. allowed number.

Less known:

* Exception: If both bases were owned by empires of the same race, the
fighters ,assault craft and special buildings *don't vanish*, but are
added, too.
* Special buildings are *not* added, if the bases belonged to different
races, even if both of these races have that device
(Tested with Feds/Peeps/Birds and Resort).

Even less known:

* If the base initiating the merge via GBA had a lower ID than the
other base, the resulting base has the ID of the GBAing base and
inherits its settings/attributes including Friendly Code (!), Name,
Happiness...
(We should ask Tim, if this is really intended or a bug)

An now something really weird:

3 Bases on a planet:

Player 1(Fed) : ID 503, Friendly Code 111, Command Code GBA
Player 2(Bird): ID 511, Friendly Code 222, Command Code GBA
Player 3(Peep): ID 508, Friendly Code 333, Command Code GBA

Next Turn:

Player 1(Fed) : -
Player 2(Bird): ID 508, Friendly Code 333, Command Code AAA*
Player 3(Peep): ID 503, Friendly Code 111, Command Code AAA**

* The log of ID 503 says : "a base has merged with us".
** The log of ID 508 shows only the stuff of the base it has merged
with (the log stated something about the mole drills of Player 3)

(I don't know how this happens. Anyone an idea?)

Ahh nearly forgotten to add this:

"Attack of" doesn't seem to have an effect regarding the base a
GBA-base merges with.
(I'll run some tests on that).

This is a bug. As you can GBA to an enemy you can chance the FC of an enemy
base and thus beam stuf from/to that base. As base merging happends before
ground combat the player can not prevent this change.

Although he can change FC at beginning of the next turn this could still be
a good trick to a crack a big base. Who is looking at ones FC every turn (at
least now I do:) . This should be changed.

But I think further sims are needed to abuse this bug to it´s best:)

Greetings
Sebastian

Since I generally have a few new ships and new bases I change the FC of my
ships and my bases every turn (using the Ministers - only takes a minute).

I recommend you all do both

Doing by bit for bug reporting, I added the info below into the VGAP Wiki
as a host bug, with sources mentioned. Hope no one minds!
