I have had a small computer shop for the last 22 years and have recently had two instances of a machine I've built shorting out at the SATA power connector after 18 and 23 months in service. Both units had a molex to SATA adaptor that came with bulk shipments of LG DVDRAM drives. One unit was hooked to a HDD and one to the DVDRAM Drive. The cables shorted and burned the power connectors at the 12V end, destroying the drives and dead shorting the machine. These are the first drive power connectors that I have seen short in the thousands of units that have passed through our shop. Has anyone else had this happen
