Hi

I have a Dell Optiplex 960 Thats Running the following:

XP PRO
E8400 3.00GHZ
4.00 Gigs of ram
Radeon HD 2600 Pro
2 DVD Burners
1 Internal SATA drive
2 USB External Hard drives. (Always Running)

I Currently have a Blueray Player on the way. (to Replace one of the DVD drives)
And I'm planning on investing in a better graphics card
(Not sure which one yet)
Right now the machine is running a 305W Power Supply.

SO..my question is Should I consider upgrading the Power Supply?
If so, does anyone have any suggestions on a Power Supply
My Price limit is $100
It's the biggest Tower Optiplex that dell sells.
I "Think" dell refers to it as a "Mini-Tower"
First time I ever needed to replace a power supply.
Looking at the case I would say it's a ATX.

And feel free to suggest any graphic cards as well.

And you should see the heat sink on this thing! WOW
The machine was free...Figure I should invest some money in it.

Thank you!!!!!!!!

Does your price limit include a graphics card? If that's the case, you won't be able to get quality in both. Your 305W PSU can safely power a HD4670, which needs no auxilliary power. That card alone will be $65-$70.
A stronger card will be closer to $160, and will require a beefier PSU such as the first one jsc suggested.

Thanks for the info Jtt283.

I have a few extra dollars.
since the machine was a free be...
I figure I would spend around 150 on a new card....And maybe 60- 100 on a new power supply.
This machine is the only one I have at the moment.
The 2600 pro was purchased a few years back. it's a pretty old card.
I took it out of my old machine and put it in the 960

my system really doesn't have any issues running anything.
As far as games go... Crysis, Farcry2 and COD4 run good.... no issues.
But I know the card is old.....which is why I figure I will just get a new one.
GTA 5 tends to lag at times....
