I have windows 7 32 bit, AMD 3.0Ghz quad core, 4GB of memory, and a nvidia geforce 8600gt video card. My motherboard is ASUS M4A785TD-M EVO AM3 AMD 785G HDMI Micro ATX AMD Motherboard.

My question is, should I leave my on board video card on or off if I a discrete graphics card?? I've heard both sides and am looking for a thorough answer as to what I should do and why.

Also, in this bios mention, under primary video controller, should I choose:
GFXO GPP IGFX PCI
GPP BFXO IGFX PCI
PCI BFXO GPP IGFX
or
IGFX GFXO GPP PCCI

And why?

Thanks a ton to anyone can help!

Solution

I believe this is setting the order that determines which graphics gets used if present.

IGFX = integrated on-board graphics.
GFXO = PCI-e graphics card
PCI = graphics card in regular PCI slot
GPP = ???

I selected the line with GFX0 as the first entry for my set up.

Hope this helps! :)

Hey,
Thanks for the help. I didn't disable the motherboard graphics just because I heard having both on can result in better graphics and I haven't run into it causing problems yet. Good to know what the abbreviations stand for and what they differences between the options are. Thanks for the help and explanation!
