MoBo is a M4A88T-I Mini-itx motherboard with a AMD Phenom II X4 960T (Phenom II X4 960 shows up in the support list on the asus site, so the one letter off might be the issue). MoBo is rated for 95w and proc is 95w.

I am able to run the computer fine and play games without issue but when I try to check my core temps it says 0 and the motherboard can't identify the processor (in windows and in the bios). I updated the bios to the latest but still no luck on reading the processor.

I hate being unable to check the core temps on the processor (it shows the cores taking load during gaming and what not). Any assistance or nudge in a direction is appreciated.

It list the name of the processor as a X6 1605T but the processor I got from newegg in my order history is this one:

AMD Phenom II X4 960T
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...

Says its a quad core but when I go into the bios it sees 6 cores. I tried to disable two of the cores but I get the same results. hmmmm

Maybe your mobo don't recognize 960T because is Zosma and the rest of cpu's are Deneb, Rana and Thuban. Your mobo recognize AMD Phenom II x4 960 Dened but not 960T Zosma.

Is there anyway around this then or is it considered a unsupported processor? I appreciate your responses :) . I sent asus a email also, to see what they have to say.

Maybe is unsupported by your motherboard. But there is lot of mobo who support your cpu.

I need to stick with a mini-itx board so its easier for me to just switch the processor if it comes down to that. Now to figure out what a high end processor for the motherboard is that wont cause a issue...

I am not worried about the cost of a new processor. I can sell the processor and take a slight loss on the money from it. I need to stick with the mini-itx board that is in the pc. Still no email from asus...

for anyone who may find this I fixed my issue by: Going into the bos settings and turning off the option that automatically unlocks cores. It was unlocking my 2 extra cores in the processor (which was originally a 6 core but sold as a 4 core due to 2 cores not being up to par) and this in some return causes the mobo to bring back a error saying the cpu is unsupported. after either disabling the 2 cores or turning off the auto core unlocker I am able to get core temps. Thanks Sosofm for your assistance and insight into a new cpu if I wasn't able to figure this out.

Hi, so is the 960T fully compatible with this motherboard then? I've got the same mobo and am thinking of getting a 960T CPU for it, but I want it to work properly (i.e the CPU is recognised correctly etc). Thanks.

It recognizes the CPU when the extra 2 cores are not on. I get temps and it runs fine. I have a aftermarket cooler on it also. When you leave the auto core unlocker on it gives CPU not supported error but still runs the ish and games. Your not able to get temps or any other stats from it though so you have to turn the 2 other cores off. This is for my CPU at least.maybe your 2 extra cores will be better
