Best upgrade from E5200 with 4 gig to what

I have an Gigabit motherboard, with an E5200 processor with 4 Gig of DDR2 ram. The motherboard will support Quad Core processor. What would be a good upgrade. I multimedia mainly. Suggestions?

I know this chart is mainly geared toward gaming but it groups CPUs and tries to point out what would be logical upgrades based on performance. I think it's likely to apply to your multi-media tasks as well.

THG recommends moving up three tiers higher

3 tiers above your E5200:
Core 2 Quad Q6700, Q9300, Q8400, Q6600, Q8300
Core 2 Duo E8600, E8500, E8400, E7600

Just in case it might be something like hard disk performance or graphics card not helping out on encoding video, etc., it's probably a good idea to list all your system components.

My computer runs perfect in it's current configuration. I am looking for possible upgrades in the future. I am already running a GT9500 video card, I will probably upgrade to 8 gig of ram at the very least. But I am satisfied with it's operation right now.
Thanks for the assistance. I see a Q9300 in my distant future.
