Upgrading a 2006 Dell Dimension 9150

Forum Systems : Prebuilt Upgrading a 2006 Dell Dimension 9150

Hey everyone!

I'm new here and have a query about upgrading my prebuilt Dell Dimension 9150 Desktop which I got way back in 2006.

The specs of it are:

Board: Dell Inc. 0FJ030
Bus Clock: 800 megahertz
BIOS: Dell Inc. A07 01/08/2007
2048 Megabytes Usable Installed Memory
NVIDIA GeForce 7900 GS [Display adapter]
3.00 gigahertz Intel Pentium D
16 kilobyte primary memory cache
2048 kilobyte secondary memory cache
64-bit ready
Multi-core (2 total)
Not hyper-threaded

I really want to upgrade my graphics card to be able to handle something like Crysis a bit a better and GTA 4. I have seen a lot of cheap graphics cards on Play.com which seem to be really good, but I'm concerned about how easy it is to install a new graphics card, and if there is anything else I need to be aware of when trying to boost the graphics of my rig.

Would it be better to just buy a whole new prebuilt rig?

Thank you!

It's pretty easy, but even if you upgrade your GPU to something more modern your weak CPU will hold it back. GTA 4 is not coded particularly well so your CPU will make that game slow no matter what GPU you put in there. Anyway, a good upgrade for you would be this pretty cheap 4850

Thanks! That looks really good!

So should I also upgrade my CPU? I notice that it requires a power supply for 450watts, and after checking my rig, I have 375watts.

How easy would it be to install a new CPU, and PSU in this case, and do you have any recommendations? Thanks for all your help!!

quedo a tus ordenes
