PCI-E and sound?

I'm not sure if this is the right section so sorry about that.
Anyway, I'm using a BOXDX79TO LGA 2011 mobo and my GPU is crossfired 7970s. I'm wondering whether the PCI-E 3.0 x16 slots carries sound through the HDMI slot on my GPU in order to use it on my monitor with built in speakers. If not, how can I make it that sound gets to my monitor, the Acer HS244HQbmii.

Yes the HDMI should have sound connect to your monitor.... Make sure you select the ATI HDMI Audio in the sound config..instead of your on board audio
