Question about MSI afterburner and opinions requested on a monitor

I am thinking of getting a MSI gtx 570 and I was wondering if Afterburner works well with Asus motherboards. I honestly don't see any issues but since a friend asked, I now wish to confirm it.
I am also looking at the ASUS VE278Q for my monitor and wondering what you folks think of it. For the price, the features and size look pretty good to me. If there is something better around that price please point it out.
