okay so im working on my new build and atm i have:

EVGA X58 SLI LE
Core I7 950
12GB GSkill DDR3 1600
2x 150GB Raptors
2x 750GB Seagate ES2
Antec 1200

now im at the cross roads on my GPU choices

I already bought 2x EVGA 460 SE 1GB cards.. (just cause i got them for $128 ea NIB)

but i have 3x EVGA GTX 260 core 216 Superclocked cards AND a XFX 9800GT (for PhysX)

now which would be better to put in my system? DX11 isnt that important to me and the games i play most are

COD: Black Opps
COD: MW2
COD: World At War
DiRt2
Flatout2
Left4Dead 1+2
HawkX

any suggestions would be great thanks!

EDIT:///
Power Supply is 1000watt Ultra X3

Personaly, I would opt for the three GTX260-216 setup but 2x 460 is equally good. If DirectX11 isn't important then perhaps you should reserve the 460s for later or make some profit

Also, there is the possibility of the GTX460 x 2 bottlenecking that QX6700.

Uhm, I have SLI GTX 260s and I max out all of those games you play with ease, which means the GTX 460's will max those out with ease too. Tri-SLI with GTX 260's doesn't scale that well as far as I remember, also you have a lot of heat output as well as a LOT power consumption.

My advice.... Sell 2 of the 260's and the 9800 and do SLI 460s + GTX 260 Phsyx.

SE... means "Sucky Edition". Even a 768MB GTX460 is better.

Both setups should perform very similarly, but 3xGTX260 will consume much more power and run much hotter than 2xGTX460 SE. In addition, it's also good to have DX11 even if you don't need it at the moment.

Acording to Nvidias site, the SE is just clocked down a little bit which it looks like a simple OC could take care of no prob.

also just for clarification, the system in my sig is NOT related to this build at all, so please dont use those spec's.

and lastly, i remember seeing a benchmark or 2 out there that showed 2x 260 216s beat out a pair of 460s in quite a few games..

also i dont have to get rid of the 460s, i have no problem keeping them around for an upgrade later if DX11 is as big as everyones making it out to be, or just for a different build.

but thanks so far everyone! keep it going please!

Read a bit more closely. It's 336x675 vs 288x650. Huge difference!!
