Just a quick post for opinions.

I currently have a 965 quad core and there is a deal on Tigerdirect to get a 1100T BE 6 core for $160 (as the topic says). Anyone think I would be able to sell my 965 for like $120 on ebay so I could turn around and buy the 1100T? Also, would it even be worth it?

mostly gaming, for now I have a 5850 and 4 gigs of ram. Look forward to Battlefield 3 and Skyrim as the big heavyweights to take on. Will likely need to get a new graphics card for those two.

I wouldn't bother upgrading. If you really need a bit more CPU horsepower, spend ~$30 on a decent aftermarket HS/Fan and OC it. Hexa-core CPUs only outshine their Quad cousins in productivity applications that can make full use of the additional cores.

Also, I know I wouldn't pay $120 for a used 965 when a brand new one is only $130.

The 965 would be faster in games than a 1100T.

However, if you clock the 1100T to 965 speeds, it would be just as fast and have more cores.

It's only worth it if you play games that use more than 4 cores, which are hardly any. Even so you'll be able to play just fine with a quad core, even if a game does use 6 or 8 cores.

Your best bet would be to just overclock your 965 to about 3.8ghz.
