Lol I have never before had this much trouble trying to pick out a graphics card ever...

I love the specs on the ati 6950 but i want to stick with nvidia since i have a sli motherboard, does anyone happen to know the equivilent of the 6950 in the nvidia series by any chance?

I cannot afford a gtx 580 or any cards that expensive at this moment.

I was thinking about get a gtx 460 1gb then sli'ing them down the road but i think they are going to outdate to fast or not be good enough for me.

All that i want to know is what is the best single card for 330$ then later on sli them or if i should go with two gtx 460's

I play bad comapney 2 at 1900x1080p max settings with 2x gtx 465's i get 60 fps steady i want more--gtx 465s are crap like most people have told me about 100 times i now belive them.

Also i would like to get a card that is not a noise maker like my old now doa 4870x2 man i cant handle that noise anymore.

For my system specs i could run two gtx 580's in sli and have no issue with power or a bottleneck so please let me know what you all reaccomend.

My biggest down fall is that i have a sli mobo and i want the 6950 or 6970 but i will not be able to crossfire them in the future. I am also not willing to get a diffrent motherboard at this time i really like mine and i can overclock well on it.

Thanks, Josh

The best Nvidia card currently for sale near $330 is the gtx570.

If you are getting steady 60 FPS, it's likely because you have vsync on. If you turned off vsync, it would likely go higher. However, your are limited to 60 FPS due to your monitor.

Looking at benchmarks, it appears Bad Company 2 heavily favors ATI: http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/geforce-gtx-570-gf1...

If that's the case, a 6950 is a great card.

What is the exact monitor you are using? If it's like 95% of them out there, it's 60hz. 60hz monitors updates it's image 60 times per second. No more, no less. If your cards are displaying 60 FPS or better, you will see 60 updated images per second. Even if your cards are running at 300 FPS, your monitor only displays 60 per second.

Now there are exceptions on monitor refresh rate. Some hit 120hz (usually these are 3D displays), some hit 75hz (usually these are CRTs). Most normal LCD's are 60hz.

You are in luck. On January 25th, Nvidia will release the GTX560 for under $300 and your problems are solved.

Oh, btw, i mistook the 5970 for a 6970 in that review. It seems to favor Nvidia if anything.

I was kind of in the same boat: deciding between the 6950 or GTX 570 (but it's not really a fair comparison).

The 570 I'm considering is the eVGA superclocked version, so it's not even in the same price range as the 6950 ($70 more).

You can wait for the 560 to come out, which seems like it will fit your budget quite nicely.

im using two 460s in sli atm

very good price and they perform really well so im happy to recommend the 460gtx sli :)

it'll be little better than the 470, and cost around 250-270, which is going to be released on the 25 of this month

You have a 60hz monitor. You already said you consistently get 60 FPS. Don't change. You are in good shape now.

In that case, a single 570 would be my vote. I already gave you a link to one within your budget. Starting off with a single fast card leaves room to improve later.

The Nvidia equivalent of the 6950 will be the GTX560 when it is released next week.

A GTX570 will cost $350 + tax, etc. If you are willing to go that high, then that should be your choice. If you would rather spend $300 or less, then the 560 should be your choice.

I can understand that...I feel the same way about Seagate. :pfff:  nothing but bad luck with them.

I personally would opt for the single card setup...Simpler, Cleaner, and in the long run I still have the option of adding the second card if needed! :sol:

I don't blame him, you've been posting about this for the past few weeks. Get the EVGA GTX580 and move on with your life. That is the best single card available. Stop going crazy, there should be no more debate.
