Audio Problem

For some reason, my audio has recently started to cut out if I do not have anything playing for a while. The only way for it to stay on is to constantly play something: i.e. itunes, youtube. I have windows 7 and never experienced this problem before. Board is an EVGA x3 sli. Drivers are all updated and working properly. Windows start up sounds play as usual. Anyone else having this issue or is this an defective board?

Are you using SPDIF, or analog? I know this can happen with SPDIF, due to how powering the output is handled by some sound devices...
