Last response: in CPUs

I was wondering what is better comparing the i5 vs phenom II X2, since i am going to get an HP. Also, i wanted to know if i should stay with intel graphics or go with ATI 1GB radeon, knowing that I do not play games all the time, and if i do, it would be stuff like DCUO and WoW.

More about : phenom

Which i5? s1155 or s1156? s1155 is the latest and greatest. s1156 is older, but still good.

Either way the i5 is a quad core and the X2 is a dual core of older technology, so the choice is obvious.

I have no idea what DCUO means (crystall ball is not functioning today) and Intel graphics or ATI 1GB Radeon is too vague, how about actual model numbers.

+1 the i5 is better regardless but which one and we can tell you by how much (some are dual core with HT not all are quad). Most likely the radeon card is better but again which one?

Everyone will suggest you to build it yourself and not approach HP or dell or any other company for pre built units. Just mention your budget and we can help you decide on the components available at your price range. If for some reason you still prefer to go for pre built units then mention the model numbers you are looking at. We can help you decide the better deal.

As for the query, an i5 (regardless of generation and core count) is faster compared to a Phenom II X2.

thanks guys!
I now have chosen the i5 @ 2.3 GHz, but i'm wondering, intel integrated graphics 3000, or ATI Radeon 1GB, i'm not a BIG computer gamer, but i do like to pop up some games like WoW, DC Universe Online, X-Plane and other games, my buget is around $800.

"ATI 1gb" is rather vague, encompassing a variety of cards from slow to very fast, however, all are certain to be faster than integrated graphics....

1GB GDDR5 Radeon HD 6490M Graphics

that's a crappy card. so you are getting a laptop judging from the components. I would not recommend you to buy it if the price is anywhere higher than $650. Your choice will NOT perform too well in games as 6490m is a very weak graphics card.

HP dv6?
If you have the money, the 6770M is massively better than the HD3000 and 6490.
