Please, Need Help With a HeatSink?

Im installing a arctic cooling accelero xtreme on a ati 5870. But now I can not connect the cooler onto my GPU card because My Heatsink that I installed on my GPU RAM is hitting the bracket, so the screw holes cant align up. in other words, the heatsinks are to close to the gpu chip, So is it okay to pull it off and re apply pushing them farther back, or will that damage the RAM? What should I do?

You can take them off, just be careful!

The nerd in me would rather take a dremel to that case and make room for the card.
