Do you have an amp for these speakers? The sub-woofer is powered, but the rest is not. And if you're going to sink that much money into speakers, yes, you'd want to have a good sound card and not rely on the motherboard on-board sound.

You could get snobby about the sound card, but anything over the $50 mark will most likely suffice.

Which sound card would you recommend and no I don't have a amp.

I would suggest a card from the Creative x-fi or Asus Xonar series. I would look for one with optical out since that's what my amp has inputs for.

If you don't want to buy an amp, then you could look at some PC oriented speakers.

if ur going to connect the amp to pc, with an optical link, then why bother buying a soundcard, soundcard only has benefits if you are going to use analogue.

digital is always digital...

It's true that optical is optical, but my mobo doesn't have that output. So I'd have to get a sound card to use it.

Plus a sound card generally has more features than on board sound. Like post processing specifically to improve the sound of mp3s, etc.
