hi
this is my first pc build and because of having to take my cpu and heatsink on and off the thermal paste and dried up.
so i purchased some new paste.

after watching some tutorials i cant decide how to apply the paste.

do i do a x
do i put a small dot

i have a quad cpu and would just like someone to tell me how much to apply and what technique to use.
if you have a video please post a link.

You can use isopropyl alcohol or acetone (fingernail polish remover) to remove the old paste. I use about 5 tiny drops (looks like a number five on a domino) less than a teardrop just touching around the cpu and even out with an old business card, credit card, or single edge razor.
