I want to play most games at max settings and games like crysis and metro 2033 at high tio max settings.will a ati 5770 suffice? My RESOLUTION IS 1680X1050 and the rest of my rig is Intel core i7 920 6gb ddr3 ram 500w psu.please don't suggest the gtx 460 as it is out of my budget and I can only afford the gtx 460 SE.on a side note is the gtx 460SE powerful than 5770?

I just owned a 5770 and although it was good while it lasted ( maxxed cod4) it most likely will struggle or won't be able to play metro and crysis at high settings. It would slow down in cod4 during explosions and such below 60fps. I think it is worth it to get a slightly better card when the 560 comes out on tues the price of the 460 will most likely drop so you should be able to get one of those easily for below the price point currently. As far as benchmarks go the 460 1gb version was beating the 5770 in most benchmarks. As far as power supply goes you are on the edge. try using this

hope that helped

Wait for the GTX560 to come, that will make prices for the gtx460 and maybe even the Radeon 6850.
You have really good CPU power but in order to the most out of it your going to need something more powerful than a 5770.The 5770 is a good card but it won't come close to maxing out Crysis and Metro_On the other hand you should have no problems maxing out games like COD Black Ops,Starcraft 2.
At this time i would say wait till the GTX560 comes out on the market then start looking and see what the prices are.

bad advice on not getting the 1gig version ( 460 ) as per other poster. Crysis and Metro will eat all the video memory it can get. I used to play at that resolution and 1gig of video memory wasn't enough sometimes. I have to assume that you're running Vista or W7 ?...... if you don't mind running in DX9, where applicable, a 5770 would run a little better but not by much. That little memory interface will hold that card back though and not give you what you'll really need. What are you using for a card now.......... and did you think to look for a GTX260 ATI 4870/90 ? Both of those would be a little better than the 5770 but no DX11...... which by the way will slam the lower DX11 cards.....

I just searched and found that I can afford the gtx 260 or the ati 4890.I didn't like the 4870 bcoz the 260 beat in all benchmarks.I don't care about dx 11 and metro 2033 and crysis in high settings will do for me.I may add sli/crossfire in the future. As for my psu I have found a good corsair 650w which I will use but is the 4890/260 more powerful than a 5770?

Oh and my current card is a weak gt220

@purple stank The speed of my cpu is 2.66ghz at stock but I manually oced it to 3.6ghz

ok but I just decided on the gtx 260 bcoz its a little cheaper and I will spend some of my money on an efficient cooling but for the last time is the gtx 260 really more powerful than the 5770?

also you need to realise the power supply requirements for the gtx260 would be along the lines of a good brand 550w PSU where the 5770 only requires a 350w+ psu. but if you like the idea of physx, for the few games that make much use out of it, then get the gtx260 assuming you have a good psu.
