dead laptop

Hi

I have inherited a Compaq Armada 7380DMT that has stopped working.

With no AC power there is absolutely nothing.
With AC the caps lock and number lock lights are on (and can't be turned
off) but there is no power light, no battery charging light, no hard disk
light.

I am not familiar with laptop workings but does this sound like it could be
easily repaired?
