System usage: gaming, Business, Homework, surfing the internet
Parts required: All parts required accept the monitor
Preferred website for parts:
County of origin: USA
Parts preference: I would like to have amd phenom ll x4 quad core processor with am3 socket running on a gigabyte mobo
Overlooking: Maybe
Not running in sli or crossfire one video card placed in a pci express x16 slot
Monitor resolution: not absolutely sure I picked up an old monitor and haven't run any tests yet
Additional Comments: I have a case that comes with a 550 power watt supply and thinking that might not be the best.
I also need to know if the monitor I have will bottleneck the personal computer.
Also was thinking about going with Windows XP or would you suggest somethen else.

i just bought an ASRock 870 EXTREME3 for 89.99 on newegg. doesn't seem like you need a mobo with HDMI when you're already getting a graphics card. anyway, i bought the AMD 965 on newegg combo deal with an XFX Radeon HD 5770 for 224.98 after MIR. i'd also go with g.skill for RAM.

try this build. Its $20-ish more and blows your AMD build away:

Intel i5-2400: $189.99
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819115074
Can't really overclock it, but its still faster stock than any Phenom II, and the 3rd fastest desktop CPU in the world.

ASRock H61M-VS Motherboard: $59.99
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813157241
cheapest 1155 chipset out there, but it's got what we need, since our chip doesn't overclock, anyway.

Mushkin 4 GB DDR3-1333: $39.99
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820146748
cheap & reliable

Antec EarthWatts Green 380W 80+ Bronze PSU: $35.99 (thru 3/27)
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817371033
with 28a through its two 12v rails, it'll handle the cpu , drives, and the GPU below

HIS HD6850 1GB : $169.99 w/ $15 Rebate
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814161348
great at 1680x1050 or 1920x1080

Seagate 500GB HDD: $39.99
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822148395
enough for all those games!

Samsung DVD burner: $18.99
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16827151192
basic & cheap

Rosewill R-102 Case: $29.99
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811147111
Basic, with 1 120mm fan included. Extremely well built for a small case.

rosewill 120mm fan: $4.99
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835200048
adds a second fan for better flow. Identical to the one in the case.

Total $584.91 plus $16.97 in shipping less a $15 rebate.
