i was hoping someone can help ....i have changed from a wireless connection to a wired connection as the signal was too low but my pc is not able to go on the net if i check internet connections (i am on xp home) is sais that i am connected and there is no problems but there is nothing being sent or recieved and if i click "repair connection" it sais somthing along the lines of it cant renew my IP adress ?
More aboutcant connect
Check TCP/IP Properties.
Start, Connect To, Connection, Properties, Scroll Down TCP/IP and highlight, click Properties and check that Obtain DNS and IP address automatically are enabled.
i dont think it would be that as i released \ renewed the ip address in command prompt .........it could be to do with the ethernet controller as the real one (downloaded of their site) didnt work so i installed an ethernet driver from a different mobo but it seems to work
If you're stuck I would buy a new ethernet NIC, they're cheap and more than one can co-exist.
Laptop choose USB or PCMCIA, desktop I'd go for PCI but USB will work.
