First Time Builder - Need someone to review build!

This will be my first attempt at building a computer, I will have a teacher help me at school if I can't put it together but can someone look at this build and see if there is anything that is incompatible, or maybe theres a better version of what I'm looking for that doesn't cost that much more worth upgrading to. I haven't really decided on a budget but I want it cheap-ish. I especially need help on choosing what size chassis (MicroATX mobo). Not so worried about the HDD. I have some questions about the power supply not sure how many volts I need, and the O.S just a quick question that you can see when you read it. If I'm forgetting something please let me know! Thanks in advance.

P.S will Newegg like ship all this at once for free (since some of the stuff is free shipping?)
P.S Also thinking about going to AMD to go cheaper but I'm not sure if its a lot weaker because of i5 and stuff IDK how they relate.

Hi and welcome.

You can learn quite a bit from the links in my sig, if you like.

If you could provide us with a bit more information we could do a much better job of advising you. Yes, someone may jump in here with all sorts of advice... I recommend you ignore them until you answer some of these questions:
http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/261222-31-build-advic...

What exactly will you use this computer for? That's the biggest one. If it's primarily gaming you need to be clear about your expectations, the type of games you like, etc.

Approximate Purchase Date: Unsure still.

Budget Range: 800-900 After Rebates

System Usage from Most to Least Important: GAMING - and movies! I love movies!

Parts Not Required: (e.g.: keyboard, mouse, monitor, speakers, OS) **Include Power Supply Make & Model If Re-using**

Preferred Website(s) for Parts: Newegg.com

Country of Origin: United States, California

Parts Preferences: by brand or type I perfer Intel but I don't mind switching to AMD so much .

Overclocking: I don't plan to unless I learn how to install something like Liquid cooling (I really would LOVE to learn how to do that) then I might. Even if I don't O'C I still want to know how to do Liquid cooling.

SLI or Crossfire: Not planning to (my mobo only has 1 slot anyway right?)

Monitor Resolution: 1920x1080 HD!

Additional Comments: Not too loud preferably but it won't turn me from it. Not sure how much to dump on video card b/c not sure how good the monitor is.
When should someone decide to upgrade from a older computer, rather than buy a new one? My old one has a BTX motherboard, and uhh... I heard I can't really upgrade much because of the old motherboard (or so I've heard).

P.S - Thanks for the links! I've been looking for something like that!!!!

Names of components are more important than links....you will get lots more answers as many peeps with little time to spare won't wanna spend time in a link clickfest.

For budgeting purposes watch for specials, for example last week that $70 case was $55

Case / PSU - Antec Illusion ($70) w/ XFX 750 watter ($90)
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...

Asus LED Monitor (23.6") $170
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...

RAM - good choice you have

OS - OEM version fine

MoBo - I'd hold out for the Asus P8P67 Pro to return ($184 @ newegg when in stock). Gives you SLI option for 2nd GFXcard in future. PSU above sized accordingly. Great newegg combos with 2500k

http://www.amazon.com/P8P67-PRO-REV-3-0-Motherboard/dp/...

GFX - If ya can stretch ya budget, the 560 Ti factory OC'd is the steal right now $264
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...

As to your shipping question, neweggs shipping costs are what they say they are .... free stuff ships free, other stuff ships at what it says

If you live in California you pay taxes on items from newegg, but you don't for items from amazon. This build is set up so you can add another one of those factory o/c gtx 560's later on for SLI.

The i5 I want to go with has no HT, but I don't know how useful it is like is it mainly for multitasking, for example does that mean an AMD at the same price (with more cores assume same speed) beat the i5 by a significant amount where I would consider AMD over i5 or can I not compare clock speeds side by side? I heard you really only down side by side clock speed comparisons if they are in the same family like i5 vs it5. Those benchmark sites....losing me.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...

AMD Phenom II X4 965 Black Edition Deneb 3.4GHz 4 x 512KB L2 Cache 6MB L3 Cache Socket AM3 125W Quad-Core Processor HDZ965FBGMBOX
159$

vs

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...

Intel Core i5-2400 Sandy Bridge 3.1GHz (3.4GHz Turbo Boost) 4 x 256KB L2 Cache 6MB L3 Cache LGA 1155 95W Quad-Core Desktop Processor BX80623I52400
189.99$

So what are regular PCI slots for if the express ones are for Video Cards?
Like soundcard?

Edit: I think I'm bias (that the word?) because I just prefer Intel, but I think I hear it more so I want to be sure that AMD is actually just as good before I go buy a CPU/Mobo

Also whats this x8 x16 thing about Video cards when I try do SLI (also sounds like crossfire idk the difference). I'll try to read about it.
x16 for single x8 for dual?

P.S Is this site.. trustable?

Superbiiz is trust worthy enough...just watch out for their shipping charges. They upped them recently. Also they are out of California.

Now in regards to that AMD cpu....let's have a look. :)
