I'm trying to upgrade my RAM from 4gb to 8gb. I have in my system now 2x2 patriot pdc24g6400elk's and I'm trying to replace them with 2- 2x2 corsair cm2x2048-6400c5c's. It wont get passed post with 4 sticks plugged in. What settings do I need? I swear I've tried everything and have even searched the web and still haven't found the right settings.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. I'm not a noob but I am training myself so please be nice to me.

Thanks again.

Its not clear what u doing.

It says that u are trying to upgrade my RAM from 4gb to 8gb.

I have in my system now 2x2GB patriot 4GB total.

and I'm trying to replace them with 2- 2x2GB corsair.

If u have 4 slots, use all of the RAM sticks. Use the old RAM in the yellow slots and the other in the red and it should work fine.

Had the same problem with EP45-DS3R even when upgrading with the same exact type of memory. Using the original configuration that worked, go into BIOS and up the DDR voltage. Check that the two types require the same driving voltage- it can vary from RAM to RAM. Also since they are different brands, you may want to put sticks of the same brand on the same channel.
So the order u had before in the ram slots was Patriot-empty-Patriot-empty.
And when u upgraded u went Patriot-Corsair-Patriot-Corsair.
Try Patriot-Patriot-Corsair-Corsair.
That way Patriot sticks is DDR2 Channel 0, and Corsair Sticks are DDR2 Channel 1, and you can adjust voltages per channel as required.

The RAM Voltage is 1.8V and 1.9V

The mobo usually adjust it by itself, if the frequencies are the same.

It won't post with 4 sticks or even 3 sticks for that matter. It will run only with 2 sticks in the yellow (either brand). With certain settings I can get it to turn on with all 4 sticks in but the computer doesn't recognize the extra memory (even in bios).

OK, i would start with BIOS.
Can u reset the BIOS?
Reset the CMOS memory the right way as is described in the motherboard manual using the clear CMOS link with the power cord unplugged.

That really odd that it would boot with 4 sticks, but not list it in the bios. Try clearing the CMOS. hopefully it's not a bad chipset or motherboard circuitry.

Alright so I've cleared them and still nothing. If I plug anything into the red RAM ports it turns off before it gets to the bios.

Unless they are incompatible with your motherboard, the Corsair cm2x2048-6400c5c modules should work on Auto settings and 1.9v. I run 16GB on mine at the default settings and 1.9v.

One way is to try all 4 slots same RAM, 4 stick kit.

If it does not work, the problem is with the mobo.

Are you installing 4 identical modules? I never had memory issues with mine and the following memory kits:

- G.SKILL 16GB (4 x 4GB) F2-6400CL5Q-16GBPQ (installed 3 months ago)
- 2 kits of G.SKILL PI Black 4GB (2 x 2GB) F2-6400CL4D-4GBPI-B (3 years)
- 2 kits of G.SKILL 4GB (2 x 2GB) F2-6400CL4D-4GBPK (a few months)

In all cases I had to increase voltage a bit to get them stable. My motherboard is a rev. 1.0 and I run Windows Server 2008 and VMware Server.

Your answer is already posted plus I ended up returning them because they never worked. I'm chalking this one to be a bad mobo.
