Went to a SB2500K WOW!

Well after MANY years of AMD, the Bulldozer debacle got me and I placed an order with Newegg for a SB 2500K. All I can say is wow,
Specs:
MB - ASROCK Z68 Extreme 4
CPU - Intel 2500K
HS - CoolerMaster Hyper 212+
Case- CoolerMaster 912
PSU - CoolerMaster GX 650W
Memory - Gskill DDR3-1600 F3-12800CLD9D 8g (2 4g sticks)
Video - XFX 5850BE
HDs Crucial 300sd -64gig SATAIII +WD Black 500g
OS Win7-64 Home Premium.

Now I know why the Intel boys were raving. Assembled thisrig and it flies. The Bios selection to overclock to 4400 went with a problem and is super stable.

I have two AMD 965BEs OC to 3700 and they were solid but this CPU is marvelous.

Bulldozer better be a BIG improvement over the Phenom IIs.

Yeah, excellent setup. I have the same board with an i7 2600K. Might want to do your overclocking manualy since BIOS tends to be too liberal with the voltages on auto OC

Not sure on that either. I never sell people into Cooler Master at work. Only Corsair. Then again I know good from bad. Maybe he got a bad suggestion.

Got a $30 discount on the Case/PSU combo and I'm not going to run Crossfire/SLI. I usually buy Antec truepowers so I'll give this a try. I have an Antec TRII750 and an AntecTPII550 in my 965BE rigs. One negative review isn't sufficient to qualify it as "crappy".

Switched out the PSU with my Antec TPII 750 and am running 2-5850s in crossfire. Have the 2500k OC to 4400 via the automatic OC in the BIOS. This system SCREAMS!!!!!!!!!!!!!

guskline - have the same board only with a 2600k, just like bearclaw. When i built it, I thought the same thing - whoa, so fast! For once when I built a computer, I really do feel like its not going to be obsolete for a long while. And even if it does, I'm not sure I will need much faster than this, ever.

Welcome to the slow old fart club mate :lol: , I ran 3D '06 the other night (just for a giggle) and in 'Canyon Flight' it only just cracked 400fps so I'm wondering if I should start a thread about 'Bottleneck' issues. :lol:
